How to Audit Telegram Signal Edits and Deleted Calls
A practical archive procedure for preserving original messages, spotting revisions and stating what a Telegram export cannot prove.
Start a dated evidence folder
Before the trial starts, record the exact channel URL, display name, administrator identity if public, your join date and your local timezone. Save the terms describing whether calls arrive in a public channel, private group or direct message. Those are different populations. A public preview may omit subscriber-only updates, and a private group can contain discussion that is not a formal call.
Use Telegram Desktop's official export tool to save the channel in JSON or HTML, then keep the export file unchanged. Record when you created it. A file exported tonight shows the conversation visible tonight; it is not, by itself, proof of what a post said this morning before an edit.
Take contemporaneous snapshots
When a call arrives, save its message link or identifier, visible timestamp, full text, any attached image and your own receipt time. Capture the channel view before the market outcome where practical. At the next review, compare that snapshot with the current post and a fresh export. Keep both versions instead of overwriting the first. If the sender labels a correction, preserve the correction as a new event with its own time.
Mark a message as unchanged observed, edited, missing from later export or original not captured. The last label is important: it prevents a late joiner from treating a current post as a verified historical original. Telegram's FAQ explains that deleted messages need not leave a visible mark in the chat.
Separate the proof layers
An independent timestamp can establish that specified bytes existed by its confirmed attestation time. For a claimed VR2 receipt, the documented preimage is VR2|salt|family|ticker|direction|grade|entry|signal_time. Recompute those exact fields and check the proof. Target and stop are not in that digest; an export or contemporaneous snapshot is still needed to evaluate changes to them. A pending OpenTimestamps submission is not a verified Bitcoin block time.
Do not let a valid digest become a claim that the whole channel is complete. Count the posted calls, but also preserve cancelled calls, follow-ups and days with no calls. If an administrator will not provide the original bytes or proof file, label the receipt untested rather than assigning a pass.
Publish a narrow finding
A useful conclusion names the period, access level and what was actually observed: for example, '12 calls seen in this subscriber channel during the observation window; one text revision observed; two older posts lack contemporaneous captures.' That is an illustrative reporting format, not a claim about a provider. Avoid turning a single unchanged snapshot into a statement about all historical calls.
Store the source links and a correction log beside the finding. The companion trial ledger carries the denominator and your own fills; this page tests the message history only.
